Unlisted Books

Writing about other books poses some difficulties. Some books withstand the passage of time well enough, but many others belong only to the fashions of their day. That latter category can pose an issue. Sometimes a book just isn’t worth it so many years later, no matter how much there was to say about it at the time.

As stated, my policy for this library in the general is: “I will only list books that I liked, were interesting, or at least not terrible enough to be disowned.” However, there remains a category that were very interesting for a moment, but no longer worth an active recommendation – like or dislike. There are various reasons for why this may happen, but also other reasons why merely excising them from the catalogue might be untenable. Perhaps it was formative in some way for that moment, until some other book came along, superior enough to replace it outright. When this happens, the older book formed a lot of the inter-catalogue connections in the meanwhile, and those may remain worthwhile enough to preserve.

Liable to have some (no longer extant) overlap with sources of sourment.
